After a 21 year layoff from modeling, I'm back at it. The good news is that SO much has changed; that's also the bad news, too.

I used to use Polly S acrylics almost exclusively and one of their products I lament the passing of is their matte clear. It really did give a matte finish. Presently I'm using Tamiya acrylics and I've found that their "matte" clear gives, at best, a semi-gloss finish...which is not what I'm looking for.

Yes, I shook the bottle until my wrists ached. I popped the top and stirred like the true maniac I am. I'm still getting a semi-gloss finish (insert whining here).

Do any of you know of a paint manufacturer that makes a true matte clear? I certainly appreciate any help!

Never had any problems with Humbrol Matt Cote (NOT the tinlet but the small bottle). I spray it 50/50 with enamel thinners.

The best I have come across Pierre is Vallejo Acrylic Matt.

Vallejo Model paint dries matt but when you apply their Acrylic Matte varnish it is matter than matte.

They also do a polyurethane varnish but apart from the gloss, which is good, i have not tired the matte.
