if you mess up a paint job and want to re-do is it better to use a sandpaper and sand it off or use a primer. remember im new sorry.

thanks,

Big Jake

Depends what type of paint you've used. Sanding may cause loss of detail and other damage to the model. I've removed acrylic paints by using a suitable solvent like isopropyl alcohol. I've never tried to remove an enamel paint but I don't see why a suitable solvent wouldn't work. You wouldn't want anything "hot" enough to damage the plastic.

If/when I screw up a paint job I just respray with primer, but I usually use an airbrush so it's quite a thin coat to start with.

There is a special model paint stripper but you can use good old brake fluid, strips just about anything but should not harm the plastic. Will need a good soapy wash afterwards though.

okay thank guys. one more question. where can i find the primer is there a certain one i should use?

You can get a standard rattle can primer from most car based hardware shops or you can get model specific, like Tamiya rattle cans from any decent model shop.
