Yet another build, hopefully I'll finish this one before my enthusiasm fades ... ;)

The Revell kit is a re-box of a Dragon kit, without any PE. I've added the Eduard PE to it, mainly for the engine grills & tow cable attachments.

I bought this on eBay & the previous owner had already bought an RB Models turned aluminium barrel which was rather nice :)

So firstly, here's the built model prior to priming. The dark parts are the Eduard bits. I won't be using everything, and some parts will be added once the basecoat is done.

I've already done the running gear & tracks, so I'll show them in detail as the build progresses.

Thanks to the rain stopping, I've been able to get the primer on before heading out.

I know there's a lot of fancy stuff out there, including the new gear from Badger Styrznzlgdzz or whatever it's called!

I haven't used that, but I've tried Vallejo, Tamiya & Mr Surfacer. But the one I keep coming back to is from Poundland

The obvious disadvantage is that it's a rattle can, but spraying outside helps & no need to prep & clean the airbrush.

Why do I use it? It's very economical; can be handled without rubbing off in an hour; after 12 hours it's tough as old boots; even if you spray heavy, it tightens up as it dries so no detail is lost.

Looking good Patrick. I agree using the primer, I use the same or even light grey plastic primer from a car shop.

German grey primer from pound land Ive got some. :)

Watching with great interest Patrick as I have two of these in the stash. Look forward to more progress soon........ Cheers John

oooo....like the look of this one

and nowt wrong with cheapo primer, ive been using the stuff from Boyes for years

Next time I'm in pound land gonna get me couple of cans ( save on the a/b as you say so that's a bonus and I like the idea that it shrinks to the model and so no loss of detail ( bonus also )

Looking good on the big brute

Regards

Robert

Yep they're indy tracks Jim & a proper PITA to put together! Not as bad as that Dragon kit, the one with the Porsche suspension - I cheated on mine & smothered them with snow!

very nice start Patrick, and what a big difference the PE,engine grills, make,

I will be watching this one,do enjoy your builds, ;)

Busy day today, got the basecoat & 1st camo colour done.

The camo is going to be Hinterhalt-Tarnung or ambush pattern. By 1945 this was applied at the factory as a hard-edged scheme. However, knowing what a PITA it'll be masking over all that PE, I'll do it freehand & try to keep the overspray to a minimum.

The base is Humbrol enamel 103. It's a nice choice for late war German AFVs.

The green is Xtracolor X806 Olive Green. This is a match for RAL 6003.

I need to find a paint to match RAL 8017 Schokoladenbraun (chocolate brown) I might have a Tamiya colour that will do the job.

Thanks for looking in

The pin washes are done - not sure if they show too well as I'm using my phone camera.

But to the Mk 1 eyeball, the difference is there. A proper pin wash really adds realistic depth & avoids the model looking like a toy.

Next up ... chipping! :) this one will be a slight departure for me, as it's going to be very beaten-up & rusty!

Thanks for looking
