Yes , learning from other people's mistakes is great ;) . Just kidding, God knows my 2 threads must be very informative haha :P

This should be a good thread to watch with so much pe and a nice kit

When I was photographing this I was thinking that there is not too much to this kit OTB. There does seem to be more pe than plastic.

A small start on the photo etch decking. First I used a burnishing solution on all the photo etch, before I started. Now I am starting with the part that supports the forward gun. Which involves adding a could of hatches, each is made up 9 parts closed or 12 parts if displayed open. I did the first one closed, but the next one, that will go in the cutout I will do open. The hatch is on the lid of a lifecolor paint jar, for size comparison.

Experiment with painting the wooden decking to make it look like dirty wood. I started with a base coat of pale umber, then thinned Tamiya deck tan, then a wash of wood brown (walnut) which is a very dark brown, then a wash of dark grey.

The rest of the pictures are the main and fore deck. The main deck needs a lot of touching up and some filling as the centre part which is PE did not fit too well as I screwed up a bit by removing too much plastic. The forward hatch has a replacement hinge as the original one fell off

Yes it's a bummer when all your good work gets hidden. Derek
