Hi guys I would just like to know if anyone else finds a lot of silver Revell paint too sticky, even after leaving it for half an hour or so? This has happened to me once or twice, especially when making my Apollo 11 Command Module model, I don't know if this is me not applying it correctly or something, but if anyone could help me with this I would be very greatful :D

It could be down to a great deal of things, old paint, unmixed paint, how it was applied, did you airbrush it? Was it painted in a damp or cold room etc

I've found the majority of metallic acrylic paints don't tend to work that well for me. I know some hate Alclad metals but I get on well with them and have great results, though recently I have started using the Mr Hobby buffable metal colours where required.

If you have a look on this forum I did the 1:72 Dragon Apollo 11 Saturn V and command module, I used Alclads on the whole command module and LEM.

I'm sure others will have lots of relevant advice.

Blair, metallic paints, enamel metallics in particular, take at least a day, and can actually take many days to dry before you should touch them or mask over them. Half an hour is not long enough to be touching the surface.

Hi Blair, I use Revell aqua a lot these days as I like the way it goes on, first shake well then give it a good stir, are you using it with water? if so try mixing it with some Revell colour mix I have never had any problems doing it this way, If that does not work for you then if you want nice metalics get some Games work shop own paint, this is designed specifically to be mixed with water and it goes on beautifully wit a brush or an airbrush.

You can use a hairdryer to speed things along I do it when I want to finish a section
