discussion Silly question regarding mixing paint!

In my Revell instruction guide, for one of the colours, it says 80% black gloss and 20% gold metallic.

Is it just as simple as mixing the two together in the right amount and then painting?

Or is there some masterful method that I should be trying to replicate?

Not silly at all. As long as you are using the same type of paint it is just a matter of mixing the two in the 80:20 ratio. Don't worry too much about getting the ratio exact ,you are aiming to approximate a colour,not perform a chemical titration! You just need to get it in the right ball park.

A long time ago I was a chemist,in the chemical sense, and had to do titrations where you gradually add very,very carefully measured amounts of one liquid to another lol. It's a great word though.

I agree it's a brilliant word and takes me back to school chemistry! Since then titration has been restricted to boiler water quality testing but using the same principles of titrating one chemical against another until you achieve a colour change. The amount of the chemical required gives you a reading of strength.

By the way you titrate using a pipette into a burette, also brilliant words!!
