Every range needs a ww2 German, they are popular after all. I decided to join in and sculpt a bust, but wanted something a little different so I have opted for an SS officer in formal evening dress.

Here is an early photo, very much wip but it gives you the idea

Nice alternative and a real treat for the bust painters too.

Black with a sheen or possibly white?

I will be a challenge to get right

Great progress Peter

Looking very good Peter. You have surprised me with this one!

Peter - it is a little different, a change from ECW or WW1.

Being mainly black and white, it will make for an interesting painting challenge. There will be a dash of red on his left arm - the SS armband.

Hi Peter.
Nice to see something different and in formal evening atire.Im sure he will be popular as WW2 German does well.
Good start Mr.G.

Steve - glad you like it. no, it is not based on a particular officer. I still find getting a likeness is hard work, for a figures of a VC winner the likeness cannot be avoided but for a bust like this I am taking the easier way out.

Peter.
Great idea, certainly differing from the normal offering we see.
Hope it all works out .

Many years ago MilMod had a series about SS uniforms and one issue featured mess dress, since then I have had the idea of a little vignette of three officers in formal dress. Probably 30 years ago and I have never got around to it, so the bust will have to do!

Here is a photo of the sculpted bust.

A little issue with one of the lapels which was sorted wiht Green Stuff.

Now I have to cast one for painting
