i am having difficulty obtaining a bottle of dope for my model, is there a substitute for dope and i have used white spirits to thin the dope and it has gone all gooey.any ideas
 
You can make your own by mixing 50% water with standard PVA adhesive,it is a little bit heavier than standard clear dope but shrinks up nicely.

Dope is out and fast vanishing even in full size circles.

White spirits, turpentine are the WRONG thinners for dope.

You need to use cellulose thinners, the stuff that is used for spraying cars.

Are you using it on tissue or on fabric?
