1st off a thankyou to Graham , at the weekend I posted a thread about getting a new camera - Graham mentioned a setting F5.6 - F11 , I found this on my old camera - set it in between and my photos look a lot better cheers mate you`ve saved me £100,

If anyone is interested I plan to blog this bike in the summer (only ever done one bike before over 20 yrs ago if my memory serves me right it came out pants) , normal good quality from tamiya also added tamiya front fork set and a carbon fibre and PE set ,

Could be well out off my league with this one , but happy to post my nightmares as I go , something a bit different , what do you reckon lads ?

all you can do is give it your best shot, built 3 bike's in the last couple of months as a bordom beater the first 1 was a bit ruff and the 2 that followed were ok but still room for improvment 1st was a 916 ducati and 2nd honda rc211v 3rd is a yamaha m1, there in my profile if you want a look, just now i am building a repsol honda rc211 rossie replica . the only thing i have found so far is the tamiya sprays required for the paint job are not available so i had to colour match them with car auto paint's other than that there very user freindly

Glad you got sorted with the camera Richy, never hesitate to ask questions as that is what forums are for, sharing collective knowledge.

I have been looking at doing one of the Tamiya bikes, cannot remember what it is called but it is a medium grey in colour. Have to say that getting the detailing kits with the photo etch chain etc will make a huge difference but it will inevitably make it more complex. You have quite a lot on your plate with this. Not only is it a fairly complex kit especially with the added extras, it is also critical that you get a good finish on the paint.

All I can say is that you have t take your time, you have to be patient, you have to be sure what you are going to do before you do it. So long as you take your time, build it up in sub assemblies that will enable you to paint as you build (a kit like this can never be built and then painted) you should be fine.

Don't let it rush you and make sure that you have attended to any (if any) gaps or bad fitting parts (unlikely on a Tamiya kit of this standard) before you paint it. Search the internet for reviews, builds of the same kit. You can pick up an amazing amount of tips from someone who has already built it. I have spent at least an hour and a half this evening looking at builds of my FW190, I feel as though I know the kit already and I have not cut a single piece from the sprue yet.

Above all, the paint finish is very important on a kit like this. Get some old CDs, spray them with some primer and then practice getting the final colour and finish right. Don't practice on the kit, it will be too late to get it wrong.

How about a bike for the next group build? Now that would cause some posts to fly about!

Could work as Flyguys and Tankies have probably never built one, then bikers could join in the 'fun'.

Hi Simon , if you use an airbrush try Hiroboy.com - zero paint do a lot of racing colours be it cars or bikes , I think they do 3 different Repsol honda colours for the different years , also after a lttle bit of research this paint is very easy to AB and comes out the nuts

I will give it my best shot as always

Graham , don`t worry mate one thing I`m good at is not rushing things I`m the slowest builder on the forum LOL , the only thing that gives me the willys is the carbon fibre decals from what I can see

Ron , as you have said a model is a model , I`m happy to try anything for the next gb , the only draw back is I`ve got to finnish the 190 gb 1st , this going to work paying the mortgage and bills game is getting right in the way.

No worrys from me Ron , I know its very early but we could start another thread putting the feelers out what the guys and girls would like to do next for a GB , there has been huge interest with the FW190 GB , doing 3-4 group builds a year would be great in my eyes it gives those involved a chance to build stuff they would not normally do.

Hi mate.. Good luck.. now 3/4 the way thro a Tamiya Ducati.. very adictive.. never done a bike before.. I used youtube tutorials for hints and tips worth a look. Like you i also used ZERO paints.. very impressed.. anyway enjoy!!

thanks for the tip had a look and i was like a kid in the sweet shop when the owner was out? perfect up till now i have only use the airbrush for humberol paints the tamiya one's were ok to brush and large areas i had bought sprays for but i found these far to powerful unless i stood in next door's garden, hopefully this will make things alot easier and i will endevor to publish the results also spotted the up detail parts these were a mistery to me i had heard of them but never used them always sticking to the tamiya part list but now well lets wait and see
