discussion Tamiya 1/16 world figures

Hi everyone,

Has anyone built any of the above kits? Are there any other manufacturers selling figures in this scale? What are your opinions on them? I know Ray (sprayman) did a tutorial on how to paint the figure heads so i got tempted and im thinking of laying me hands on one.... :winkingshades:

I did not find many reviews on the net so...

Currently I've made and painted seven figures out of the Tamiya range and have to say they are very easy to build and the fit of the parts is first class. 30 minutes should see the build completed

Painting well that takes at lot longer!! I do know the Dragron have a range of 1/16 figures but as yet I haven't built one so can't comment on them.

For the painting I hand paint on the grey primer and give it 48hrs or so to fully dry for the uniforms and personal equipment I use a mix Vallejo model and Panzer Ace colours and my own mix of artist oils for the face and hands. For shading and weathering I use Mig Dark Wash for the shadow areas and Mig pigments for weathering. Fianlly a coat of Xtra acrylics matt varnish and it's job done.

I hand paint my figures I know some of the guys here use an airbrush mmm think I must be old school lol.
