discussion Tiffie rocket rails?

Can someone please confirn that the rocket rails for the 60lb SAPR were the same grey as on the bottom of the Typhoon 1b please? For some odd reason I thought it would be silver.

They look grey on photographs but it is almost impossible to tell the difference between grey and aluminium in B+W photos.

There is evidence to suggest they were unpainted.

These Mk II rails, seen on a Mosquito but also used on the Typhoon, are clearly unpainted.



On a Typhoon it's unclear (and I'm not sure that this isn't colourised as I vaguely remember seeing the same image in B+W somewhere).



These are pictures of a rail recovered from a Typhoon crash site in Holland and they don't look to have been painted.





If it was down to me I think I'd do the rails in natural metal.

AH thanx Steve. Silver it is then. I can't see them being painted, after all the rockes would burn the paint and the paint might "bind" the sliders?
