discussion Tippex filler?

Hi all.

I remember reading on this forum of tippex being used as a joint filler IIRC.

How is it used ? Thinned down or straight form the bottle?

Is it easy to sand down , or where lies the trick?

good stuff for small gaps and for reducing deep panel lines.

i usualy apply with the pad in the bottle ,sometimes i mask off the area to be filled . you can wipe tippex off with white spirit and a cotton bud. it sands ok. use the non environmentaly friendly stuff if you can get it as the eco gear will not grip the plastic and tends to flake off when sanded and will not feather edge very well .

if you cant get the good stuff ,try leaving the bottle open for a while and then dilute with xylene or cellulose thinner or you could try tenax etc as this will give tippex some bite.

if you use enamels under coat with sray paint as brushing can melt it ,regards

Haven't tried this myself Theuns, but an alternative is superglue (CA) mixed with talcum powder-it fills well & sands really nicely.

True, but if you let it cure for too long it will set harder than the surrounding plastic with all the fun and games that entails!
