Hi, Folks,

I'm curious. Has anyone here ever tried to build a small scale liquid fueled rocket planes like the Germans were developing during WW2. Not a turbine model, but an actual liquid fuel rocket motor. I think the one they built was called the ME163? I think it would be kinda cool to see something like that fly. I saw a turbine powered model in a magazine, and wondered how difficult it would be to fly if it were actually rocket powered? Lew

I don't know about flying it,but wouldn't liquid fuel be a little dangerous.Besides were would tou get it?

I think it would be awesome! But maybe our new pres. Will allow such things to be made and not consider them terror weapons:dancing1: Actually, I think the fuels mixed are just too dangerous to use- T and Z stuaff sp. The stuff used un the 163 melted flesh instantly and the pilots were required to wear asbestos flight suits.

Hi Lew and welcome to the site,

I am not sure about this method of propulsion for models, I have certainly never come across it before and as stated in the above posts, I suspect it is too dangerous to even consider unless you are prepared to take the risk & do it yourself.

The only ME-163's that I have seen have either been prop powered or Pulse Jet powered. Pulse Jet engines, as used in the German V planes have been around in model form for years now - even they are hazardous and extremely noisy. Having said that, they are spectacular to watch in flight too.
