Maybe I didn't phrase that quite as I should have ............. It might be better to say that I always feel I could and should have done a better job. I enjoy building them, although I have to admit one or two have been a bit of a struggle and came close to being trashed. Peter
Oh right, see what you mean

I enjoy the dodgy kits, the more work they need the bigger kick I get out of them

Yes Andy a fine line between getting a kick out of it or kicking it. The model that is.

The Mosquito 1/48 Revell drove me to near utter distraction mainly the cost of filler. Where as the Revell 1/48 Wessex was a great friend a very nice model to construct. Not easy but if you thought it out prior to taking the glue to it it made life so much easier & that also gives you a good kick out of it all.

I am in the 'looks right' camp. That said I do like a degree of accuracy too. I buy kits that have good accuracy and avoid those that have problems. Mostly I build out of the box but will add some details with resin and pe sometimes but without going over the top. A couple of times I have done research to build a different model than in the box for instance a RAF Mustang out of the Tammy 32 scale kit or Martlett out of a Trumpy Wildcat. I admire the work of those who spend a fortune on aftermarket stuff leaving little of the original base kit but that is not for me.
