I found the description of the steering interesting; I didn't realise they bent the tracks sideways.

Yes, a very odd way of doing it, when you think about it, especially given the short length of the vehicle. But maybe that’s why bending the tracks actually works?

This is why it was very easy to slip the track off when turning.

i guess that the engineering was simpler that having separate power trains to each track.
