discussion What colour primer

I am starting to paint the parts for the desert vehicles and was wondering what colour primer would have been used for these vehicles in WW11. If any body can throw some light on this it would be great thanks in advance.

Hi Terry, I usually use light grey for most things, but white is best for a yellow finish. I am guessing you will be using a sand colour, so I would suggest white. There are plenty of guys here who do vehicles and who have more experience than me. Derek

Hi Terry red oxide was the standard primer colour for all german vehicles, but just remember when that the original base coat would be german grey that is the colour that they would have originally been sent to Africa, they would have been pained whatever brown the germans decided to use but it would have been painted over the original grey base coat.
