I've got my hands on a couple of kits but they have no painting guide so if anyone can help with what paint i'd need for them i'd be grateful.

First one is Airfix Jungle outpost 1:76 (03382)

And the second one is starter truck toyota gb (science treasury) and they are the only words i can find on the box in english everything else seems to be in japanese.

I got given them today so they may have had paint list at some point, but they're not there now!

Oh and what make and type of paint do you all recommend?

Cheers

Hi Wayne,

From what I vaguely remember of the Jungle Outpost, I'd go for a dark yellow/brown basecoat, wash it with dark brown then drybrush in 2 stages. The first with the basecoat colour,, followed by a very light drybrush of a cream colour. Having looked at my paint stash, the colours would be 094 Yellow-Brown, 170 Brown Bess, 103 Cream (all Humbrol enamels). I don't know the truck you mention though.

As a rule of thumb, don't worry too much about getting the colours or shades exactly right. There's too much fussy nit-picking in modelling already! As long as it looks reasonable & fit's into the time-frame that the model represents, then it's all good. For instance, the Jungle Outpost would look more yellow/tan during the dry season than the rainy season, where it would have a 'greener' tinge from the lichen & moss than would grow on the wood. Same with a tank-one used in Normandy would be dry & dusty rather than one seen in winter battles like Kharkov 1942.

Give it a go, try out some ideas & see how you get on.

Thanks for that Patrick, like you say i don't suppose there is a wrong colour as long as it fits in the time frame and i'm happy with it.
