Hi Guys,

My missus wants me to build a model of the Titanic, she is fascinated with the ship and the events of it's sinking.

I've had a look online and Revell do a 1/700 and a 1/400 kit. I think the latter will be too big (don't want it taking up to much room on my AFV shelf :D).

So, I was wondering if anyone had built the 1/700 kit and what they thought of it, and if anyone has any other recommendations for a decent Titanic kit?

Cheers,

Bob

Edited to add: I've also just come across the Academy kit which comes with lighting (https://www.wonderlandmodels.com/products/academy-1700-rms-titanic-led-lighting-set/. Has anyone built this? :)

I think Peter ( peterairfix ) is your man for this one Bob. I'm sure he'll be along with an answer soon.

I would go for the led lit Academy 1\700 far better than Revell one .I am currently doing academy and not much in the way of wiring either.

Thanks Peter. Is it a relatively simple kit, I've not done a floaty thing before. :D

I would say an intermediate kit the hull comes in two pieces prepainted in hull red the only painting will be the decks and everything that goes on the upper decks .
Also for more help with the paint colours I use this site google titanic paint and click onto the titanic-model paint web site and you will get a wealth of info for the titanic.
Or try this link http://www.titanic-model.com/paint/
