Too many Sherman around, so I got one, actually a small one as this is 1/72.

More to come,

Francesco

Yeah!! That's a nice notice, welcome on board!! :)

You will build a little base near Catania? ;)

Thread owner
Ok, I have this

Possibly not the best around but I chosen it because ... was, together with the UM one, the only non-1/35 kit available at my LHS.

Actually I was looking for a 1/48 kit of the A, with interiors, I remember there was one when I was young but unsuccessfully, then for the Eduard, but couldn't find it.

BTW, I have this, so I will start looking for original pictures for a possible diorama.

You have to do a diorama....you know you want it... ;)

PS: have an Italian friend here, he send me many pictures....you know him? ;)

Don't know, still searching pictures of this tank and looking for inspiration on possible setup.

If you mates have any idea feel free to share.

How about the Sherman over a bridge (stone or wood). Will be a nice base with volume.....

Thanks Polux, interesting proposal.

This could be either a simple one like this

or even simpler like this(with a building corner

or an iron bridge (but will make the tank visible only from front/rear) for which I don't a photo handy.

Alternatively I'm thinking about these

The old pic with the girl is very nice, different and original, so the best one!!! ;)

If I was a master modeller, my choice must be the ship one...

Thread owner
I like the one with the girl too, still trying to guess what she's doing.

A master modeler ? We should ask the one who made the secret trip ;)

Thread owner
Thanks for that!! ;)

I think she is write something on the tank. Those marks don't seems very....military O_o

Thread owner
That's possible.

7 September 1944 is written on the tank, together with French girl names

Must be in France, probably in Loraine, in one of the town made free from allied forces, perhaps after the battle of Arracourt.

But the girl, how to make it? Paul? Where are you?

Other best choice is the bridge, for now.

3, 2, 1, start

Let's begin with a shot of the sprue.

The kit looks nice, not excellent, it will require some sanding and more putty to fit well.

Oh, forgot to say that I've lost the instructions (never leave the instructions on a table that you 1yo daughter can reach) so I'm going by heart. I assemble the wheels that I will paint separately and the hull.

Next step will be to give some primer, recheck sanding and glue the small bits.

Stay tuned!

Looking very good Francesco ;)

The colour depends of your idea.....like only dust effect, with chipping or maybe a battered model.

My suggest, for a nice finish, is a bit of modulation on the paint work. I will try to do on mine

Cheers

Thanks Polux.

I gave another coat and it became much better, with a less faded shade. In the meanwhile the preshading was almost totally gone.

So I redid the shadow mixing a drop of black and highlights mixing a drop of sky to base color. After this a very thinned potion of two drops of white and one of base has been used around the wheel and in vertical stripes over the whole model, then a layer of gloss.

Here the pictures:

Though some variations are visible they are not as before the clear layer, which is still not dried in the pics. Hope it will appear once dried, otherwise I will have to retouch.

Can you confirm hatch interior was painted white?

Thanks for looking,

Francesco

P.S. assembling the track over the mounted hull was a mess, especially when I discovered that the two sides of the geared wheels where not aligned (yes, there's a notch for glueing) and I had to cut them in half and reglue).

What...? Is finish?

The sign on the side looks superb, is an excellent "touch". ;)

It's time for the base now?
