That's a relief dave I can use this thread to get around the problems when I build mineOriginally posted by \That's the old Monogram kit reboxed then. The one I'm building here. Its not a totally accurate Mosquito. But if I hadn't just built the Tamiya and Airfix kits,I don't think I would have noticed!.

The undercarriage doors are moulded as part of the engine nacelles. If you want the gear down, they have to be carefully cut out then cleaned up.Door hinges are supplied as separate items.Ive masked the canopy frames this evening and glued it to the model. And I've glued on the wing tip lights. These needed a bit of plastic card to make them a better fit.The kits .303 machine guns are way over scale. So I've got some 'Master' brass barrels to fit in their place. On this build I've decided to fit them after painting and finishing the model. So I've filled the inside of the nose with scrap plastic. And I've filled the oversized gun ports.I will drill holes for the guns and fix with superglue at the end of the build.

Thought I would try out the spray booth I got for Christmas. Its very cold in my garage, so I used Alclad grey primer on the model. It doesn't seem to be affected by the low temperature and has dried as quick as usual and give a nice, smooth finish.Attached FilesComment

I doubt it will look better than yours Alan.I may appear to be taking my time with this one.But the reality is I haven't had much chance to do much modelling lately.Family stuff keeps getting in the way!.Originally posted by \Very nice dave
I'm building that airfix one at the moment but I'm further along and already have the base colours on which means yours will look better than mine

Nah dave ive rushed mine and left out some filing and I got the underside colour wrong , i cose what I thought was a mid sea grey mate but ended up with a stone grey gloss and me and gloss don't get on so the surface is full of brush marks and will be difficult to weather , top side is fine but to much rushing for the 1/24 SSIG has made me do stupid mistakesOriginally posted by \I doubt it will look better than yours Alan.I may appear to be taking my time with this one.But the reality is I haven't had much chance to do much modelling lately.Family stuff keeps getting in the way!.Comment

After a bit more filling and some more primer I have now got a coat of black on the model.for this I used Revell enamel number 9 'Anthracite' as it's not too black if you know what I mean.Ive also sprayed the prop spinners and undercarriage doors the same colour.

Hi Dave
Just catching up on a few threads I've missed.
Great work on a really, really old kit. I'm really looking forward to seeing this finished and joining the other 2. You will be photographing the 3 together won't you? It will be great to see the variants together.
Cheers
