Three colour mottling - there's a challenge for you. As Paul says watching with interest.

I'm confused. I thought the mottling was 3-colour (RLM81/82/02) based on the pic in the instructions:
but I just found this pic on the Airfix website (https://uk.airfix.com/products/messe...a-1a2a-a03090a) which clearly shows the mottling to be two-colour, RLM 81/82.
No sign of any RLM02.
So, am I reading the pic in the instructions wrongly?
Your opinions please!

Hi Pete, if you search for Me262 110956 there are photos to be found, as it was photographed after capture in 1945. To me it looks like two shades for the mottle. Up to you though, any colour photos are modern colourisation, and the black and white pictures are hard to decipher. As usual... An opportunity to get creative!👍 1Comment

Many thanks Joe. I'd tried searching for "white 17" but hadn't thought of searching for the werknummer. Interesting that Eduard have the mottle and the splinter camo in RLM 74/75, not the 81/82 that Airfic prescribe. See https://www.asisbiz.com/il2/Me-262/E...9-1945-0A.html
So, it looks like whatever I use nobody can say it's wrong, so I think I'll follow my simplest interpretation of the Airfix instructions.
Might make a start later today but I have to wait for a boiler service person first.

Well, I've done worse mottling, but it doesn't look too bad.
Now I need to decide which order to do the following in: clearcoat, decals, fit the undercarriage and bay doors, fit the pitot and aerials.
The wheel bays are in the underbody colour, RLM76 as recommended by Airfix. I did originally paint them in aluminium but then decided to follow the instructions - saved some masking!
