Ive now got the top and bottom fuselage halves together , the resulting seam on the forward and rear fuselage has been sanded and filled and the lost raised panel lines reinstated by scoring with the scalpel - this leaves a raised line which is virtually the same size as the kit ones , once under a few coats of paint theyll be fine. The nose cone has been fitted but the joint is yet to be sorted .
I’m still not sure if I want to have the missile bay closed or open . Its not something I usually go for and the rest of the builds in this series with internal bays ( f101 voodoo , f102 delta dagger) were built closed -BUT , the detail on this kit is beautiful and it would be a shame not to see it . I just cant decide . Ive put a 1/72 hurricane im doing at the side to show how big a model this is in 1/48 , it was a surprisingly large aircraft .

That's an impressive build Tony. As you say, she's a big bird.

This has now had the canopies fitted ( rear section only temporarily) and given a coat of grey primer . A few areas needed tidying up with a little acrylic filler but its almost ready for the colour . One thing I have decided on is the weapons bay , I’m going to have it open - it would be a crime to hide all the exquisite detail with a closed bay .
With this in mind I've given the weapons bay a coat of green.

After masking the weapons bay ( using the closed doors part ) this has had a first coat of ADC grey . Depending how it dries it might get a second one . Click image for larger version

Looks great Tony. As with most colours the ADC Grey is a real mystery to match.

Finally got round to giving this a bit more paint. The first coat of ADC grey was ok but looked a bit featureless and monotone so I mixed in a good few drops of a dark grey to darken it a touch then went over all the panel lines to accent them a bit. The large bare areas on the big wings were also given a bit of mottling. Next up is to mask off and spray the black nose then I can look at giving it a coat of Klear which will seal the paint and give me a nice gloss base for the decals .

Nose masked and painted , its now had a coat of klear to seal everything . Next up is to mask and spray the yellow band on the tail then I’m going to decal it before I tackle the missile bays and undercarriage.

Looking very nice indeed Tony. The post-shading on the panel lines has been very effective. That nose area wouldn't have been easy to mask, but it's turned out exceptionally well. Look forward to seeing the decals on

Masked up the tail and given it a coat of white primer then two coats of golden yellow. The scheme i’m doing has the yellow tail and a yellow diagonal stripe on the forward fuselage , but only the stripe is supplied on the decals so the tail had to be colour matched . This will now be getting a coat of Klear then its decal time .

A nice bright scheme, Tony. Marmite Yellow some might say 😉

                            Mmm, Marmite!
Clearly a man of good taste.

I've gotta admit, I've never been able to get marmite to spray that well, it always ends up lumpy for some reason.

A cracking build so far, good decision on the weapons bay, detail like this needs to be shown off.
