I have this on my list to start after the EE Lightning I’ve just started, just out of interest, what colour did you paint the undercarriage bays? Looks a bit like Chromate yellow/green? If the answer is in the instructions, feel free to answer ‘RTFM’ 😀

      RTFM...LOL

Seriously though, Be wary of the instructions as I seem to remember they list the bay colours as black when they should be green chromate / chromate green, so I gave them a blast of Tamiya XF-4, over a black base, then a thin wash of brown oil paint just to soften the harshness down a tad..

Whatever you throw into these bays can't be wrong as they end up quite grubby in the pictures I've seen online..

Right then, the seat is finally done...(finally they say !!..lol), straps repainted a lighter shade for contrast, decals added, and a couple of extra bits of paint ,(yellow handles and the red 'blob' on the headbox)done.. to be honest I could easily mess around for ages with various bits on here, but you've gotta call time on it eventually.

I'm thinking about grabbing some replacement exhausts for it as well,

got my eye on these.. they're gorgeous.

However they're out of stock at the minute, that said I've got the rest of the build to do before I need to come to a decision on them..(but you've gotta admit, it'd be rude not too)

You know, if a manufacturer made a decent scale model of an ejector seat, it would probably be a big seller - we’d be making them and going ‘meh’ to the actual aircraft

Great work Chris. 3D printing is definitely on the up. However, it needs a skillful hand to bring the seat to life.

Managed to throw some extra thin at this over the weekend, it's starting to look less like a load of plastic bits and more like a Jaguar,
It goes together perfectly, with no gaps, (I have ended up using a micro smear of filler on a couple of bits but that's down to user error and not manufacturer issues),
Those dropped slats and flaps are almost too easy to assemble yet look perfect when fitted. you can really see that Airfix 'did their sums correctly' when desigining this model, everything just 'falls together easily'.

And the replacement exhausts turned up today, The detail on these is stunningly crisp, these will be next up on the 'build' list..

                              So, moving onto the exhausts,
is there any special colour they need to be ?, I'm thinking of going with a burnt steel kind of colour,
would the insides be a really dark sooty black like the rolls royce spey engines or did the ardour engine run 'cleaner'?

(and why is it that once you start down the path of 'replacement ' upgraded parts you can't stop ?, I'm now looking at 1/48 scale ladders and trying to find a 1/48 scale photographer figure for a dio idea I'm having for this.)
