Had some time to make a start on the exhaust shields, I've gotta say I'm loving MRP Paints.. their 'metal' colours are perfect.
And a quick test of the resin cans... not bad at all.
Also managed to sort the Gun ports out, Airfix would have you paint this brick red, however there's loads of pictures of the 'red colour' showing it was a protective coating painted onto the steel gun troughs, so here's my take on it..
Also did a bit more work on the 'bleaching' of the upper surfaces.
And a question for anybody who may have worked on these aircraft or has more knowledge about this area,
in the picture below I've arrowed the rear of the lower tail section, now for some reason I keep seeing images of the Jaguar with this area fully 'plated' out in bare metal, and then I've also seen images with it painted...Airfix would have you leave this area unplated / and painted the same as the airframe,
Anybody got any idea which is correct for a Gulf War Jag ?
Is it normal for the whole of the lower tail section to be plated ?, or have Airfix got it correct and it was infact painted the same colour as the rest of the airframe ?.
Your paint work and post-shading is excellent Chris. You nailed the gun port colour.

The photo I posted earlier for the exhausts, shows that area was left as bare metal Chris. Not to say they didn't paint over it during application of the desert pink paint job, but I'd say it wouldn't have survived long in the exhaust heat.
That is looking excellent - two parts inspired by you to try and match that level and one part scared that I’ll never match that and it’s time to go find a different hobby 🤣

Thanks for the kind words fellas,
Neil, I'm no expert buddy most of this is just trial and error,
nothing I do can be classed as anything different or better than anybody else can do, and what's the worst thing that can happen ? I get it wrong and repaint / correct the errors...(and there has been a couple since I started)
To be totally honest I'm about 95% happy with the colour, and even with that I'm contemplating bleaching down the upper surfaces a tiny bit more.
Also had another delivery yesterday...my next project...
