This is now in the bin.


Im seriously disgusted at the quality of the parts and the raised markings, the poor fit and when i started painting it today, it looked bloody awful.


Worst kit ive even bought.

That's a shame Dave. But you should keep it as a painting test-bed - I've found it's much more relevant using an actual model, rather than a piece of scrap, pop bottle etc

We've all been there Dave me old mucker, it's awful when you've spent time and effort for b****r all. The only things you can get from this is the facts that this could be the worst one you'll ever have a go at, remember to research before pressing 'BUY', you've learnt some new skills and yes you have a test bed for paints etc. Lastly, after a while and many more models under your belt you could have another crack at this and probably cruise through it

When this happened to me, I bought a Tamiya kit, a Universal Carrier, it completely restored my faith in kits, and was everything it needed to be after a bad eperience, but, oddly, the sprees for it had a date that was earlier than my mustang! Just goes to show that age alone isn't the only factor!

Sorry to hear it went in the bin Dave, I had a kit like that, it was airfix s 1/24 P51D kit it went the same way. Chin up mate buy a Tamiya tank kit that will restore your mojo.

Thanks guys, ive got some Armour coming, tamiya and also a couple of decent kits here too.


I think ill make sure that any kits i buy have good write ups, and DONT have raised detail. This aricraft had the exhausts as raised detail (poor in my opinion considering the time they spent making the wings fold!) and all the rivets and aileron detail raised. Wouldnt have been so bad if the kit fit together, but as soon as you need to apply filler, and in my case lots of epoxy to hold things together due to poor engineering, those details are lost upon sanding, and a light primer coat, then paint and its useless.


Im not dismayed at modelling, just dismayed that i paid money for a kit that was rubbish, but then i guess if i dont research then im to blame! Oh well, onwards and upwards guys! Ive got other models on the go which are much better,.

Sometimes Dave it's better to get a few smaller kits under your belt, makes you feel like you are getting somewhere rather than getting bogged down with one large project. It's a bit like that for railway modellers, their set scene is a series of smaller models helping to complete the whole.


A lot of modellers when they are doing a large model have a smaller one or two on the go too.


It's also better to have a variety in your stash, I know that you are leaning towards armour models but it's also good to have something else just for a change.


Model makers psychology is a difficult subject to analyse, there are so many permutations of subjects to choose from.


Whatever you choose Dave just make sure that you enjoy what you do, if a model is getting you down and annoying you just leave it, do a different one, it keeps you fresh minded.

Lol dave, yes ramblings making sense, but its not the size of the model thats caused issues, its the poor moulding or tooling,


This corsair was working great until i came to affix the main wing assy to the fuselage, where it showed that the lower wing part was obviously moulded badly and didnt line up with the fuselage. Also the wings were only held on by very small pieces, on a swivel which didnt support the wings, unfortunately, you dont find that out until its too late!


And then finally the raised detail is a silly idea to me, you cant sucessfully sand any area needing filler without removing it.


So what have i learned?


First, im now researching my kits i buy, to see if theres any negative comments about fthem from folk who actually built them, and wether theyre raised detail or not,


Also im finding that i enjoy the painting side of armoured vehicles a lot more than planes and such like.
