we are talking about interior of canopy... sorry, missunderstand

What I'm doing and is quiet well...

Put masked canopy on the plane, before priming... or whatever you do in your style...

Spray all over same color of cockpit... it's german gray if I'm right...

and you will see there is not need for painting of interrior of canopy because is transparent and you can see german gray color from inside of cocpit...

after that I put all over primer and thats it

You were right in what you said the first time Roman but the thing was that the usual embossed framework on the outside of the canopy is missing it only appears on the inside and that's what's going to make masking difficult. I've just checked the decal sheet Steve and your right there are decals for inside and out but it looks like it would be a total nightmare to apply them. The Hasegawa decals are very thin and I think they would split and fall apart very easily. I know the canopy can wait till later but it still needs some thought.

A small amount of progress with the office today. I decided to make my own seat belts from Tamiya tape and thin electrical wire. I found this useful tutorial on the Flory model site - How to scratch build simple seat-belts. I think they've come out ok.

            Hi All

I have made a start on the engine cowlings RLM 65 on the underside and then masked and a base coat of RLM 71 for the camo. The prop and nose cone have a coat of RLM 70. The tip of the nose cone is finished in bright blue . I used deep sea blue with two drops of white to achieve this colour. I've also finished off the instrument panel with some decals, gun sight is yet to be added. The fuselage has still to be joined, I'm putting it off at the moment as seams are not my strong point and I haven't decided on wether to use plastic weld or Revell contacta poly cement.

Thanks Guys. Steve I had to weigh up what to go for canopy masks or PE belts I have to keep an eye on the £'s, as what starts off as a bargain model soon starts adding up and also it's a bit of a challenge making your own.

No they're on the end of my nose, wouldn't be able to model without them. I think I stick to 1/32 as I feel comfortable working at that scale. Saying that I didn't realise how big this bird is going to be, I'm running out of space to display them.

I admire your paint work Vaughan. Wish I had to guts to try it.

Seat belts must try this technique next time. Tried Edouard on the present model look OK but not really impressed they look stiff & not all that authentic.

                              Thanks Laurie

I would give it a go with the home made seat belts as you say the P.E ones too stiff and take a lot of manipulation to make them look realistic. Mine weren't too difficult to make but that's at 1/32 scale. The ones demonstrated on that link were in fact 1/48 scale so might be a bit more fiddly. The main thing is that it saves a lot of money and I think they look fine to me considering they will be very visible with the large canopy.

Here's my progress so far, outer wings and wing root assembly are together(still a dry fit between the two of them). All is a good a nice and snug on a dry fit with the fuselage. Still to completely join the fuselage behind the rear gunner I'm giving it a go with plastic weld which takes some getting use to but at least you can do it in stages. As I said before she is going to be one big bird and I have still to fit the wing tips!.
