    Gruman F6F-5 Hellcat, Eduard 1:72

It's done. It wasn't a complicated build, just a lack of time. This is the Profipack kit, including everything except paint and glue. This is not an aircraft that was high on my 'like' list, but now it's built, I quite like the look of the little thing.
The kit, yes, it is recommended.

Superb work Colin, I like the way you have achieved tonal variation in the sea blue scheme.

Very nice Colin. The Hellcat was never the best looking kid out of the block but a formidable fighter I believe.

That's a fine looking model. As others have said your paintwork is spot on.

Excellent outcome with some good tonal variations in the paintwork.
I picked up the dual combo FAA edition of this at a Model Show a couple of years ago, seeing your result may push them higher up the 'to do' list. It's a brute of an aircraft, one that just looks as if it won't take any 'nonsense' from the opposition.

The paint, glossy sea blue, it might be called in the real world, was apparently a real tough finish. It has been reported during restoration of these aircraft that this finish was really difficult to remove. Leaving me with a right old problem - how to weather it.
As a carrier aircraft, you can be sure these were clean machines. Which led me to a huge dollop of artistic license, resulting in the 'local' repair look seen here, with just the odd patch of new paint applied in certain areas.

Indeed, not the best looking aircraft, but it has grown on me. With a kill ratio of 19:1, it's not surprising it earned the name 'Ace maker'.
