This was the most widely used glider in WW2, almost 14000 were manufactured by various companies between 1942 and 1945. Usually towed by a C-47 Dakota it could carry 13 troops plus 2 pilots or a jeep or 75mm howitzer. Made of wood and a metal frame which was fabric covered. Packed in wooden crates for shipment overseas.
Tooling dates from 1974 and this kit was 1979, hence the spelling of Italeri/Italaerei.
The interior is completely incorrect and so it was replaced with a scratch built one. From this ...

The rear seating consisted of removable plywood benches.


The exterior was fine although I made new doors.

Went together OK. A fun project really.
