Airfix 1/72 De havilland Vampire fb5

Heres one ive recently finished . The Airfix 1/72 Vampire fb5 . Its the old Heller tooling released at the time Airfix and Heller were bedfellows . Its not a bad kit ,just of its time ( i think it was first tooled in about 1979) ,with raised panel lines . The decals were very poor quality - see through and reluctant to leave the paper , thankfully this was only a phase for Airfix and not something they suffer from these days . I got it at the Hinckley show last year for £3 so didnt bother going to town on it , just adding etched belts . A lovely result Tony. I didn't even know that they did the Vampire single seater in 1/72, so that is a revelation. Are you running an aircraft manufacturing business? 😁

That is a fine result Tony. You have certainly made the most of a poor, ancient, cheap kit. I'll bet the seat harnesses cost more than the kit

            Very nice indeed

Another of those from a time when aircraft looked interesting and not the manufacturers cribbing off each other like now

Im wondering what to build next....just looked across the stash and a sea venom is calling out lol
