    1/72 Red Arrows Gnat

This was a £5 bargain from a charity shop and might have been badly stored as the fuselage halves were twisted. After losing the two pilots, the fuselage dropped my mojo somewhat so I didn't bother to make a good job of the filling and sanding to overcome the twist. Also part of the LH landing gear was broken, and I think my repair has left the plane with a list to port. Still, it looks a bit like a Gnat!
Main colour and the white wheel wells are Mr Hobby Aqueous, finished with a coat of Galeria satin varnish.

Decals went down pretty well, except for a small split over the rudder actuator visible in the second photo.

Very nice......i keep thinking of doing a Arrows bird myself

When i was stationed at Scampton many many moons ago they had the hanger next to ours......had a Gnat airframe on display outside.......never did find out who stuck a training Rapier missile up the jet pipe lol

Nice result from a challenging kit

I'm guessing that's the Matchbox Gnat? I say that because the more recent Airfix Gnat is also heavy on the panel lines, Which put me off really, Airfix was in it's 'wilderness years, with their Spitfire PR19, Mitsubishi Zero and Mig 15 had similar Matchbox like panel line 'trenches'

Miko (my Gnat was finished as the aircraft with the 'Meteorological Research Flight')

No, it's the Airfix Red Arrows starter set, A55105. Released 2012.

Nice result Pete. It's a very small model so I would imagine that would make it quit difficult to work on so well done.

          cheers

Well considering the price paid and the state of the kit that is a great result. Well done for wrestling it into a fine model.

That end result look pretty good to me Pete. Especially as you had to overcome the twisted parts. Paint job is nice and smooth. 😎
