Hi all
So it's just over two weeks since my first ever Corsair crossed the finish line and here are the final set of pics.
Apologies for the delay in getting them up but we had a short camping trip with friends followed by a family holiday to Prague but more about that later, as I might have taken a 'few' pics that will hopefully have been of some interest.
So here's the usual summary for both your benefit and as a reminder for me for the future:
Fit is usual Tamiya offering and thinking back, I can't remember any real fit issues during the build process.....and if there were they would almost certainly have been my fault.
All-in-all a very nice kit, especially when you consider it only cost me £10, when it's normally at least 50% more than that here in the UK.

ACW welcome as usual.

PS. This might get me shot in some quarters but I don't find the overall blue particularly inspiring.
PPS. I always thought it was a very tall plane and it is but not quite as tall as I thought and it was interesting to see how it compares to the Tempest I have finished recently (see below).

Corsair solo pics.

The usual scale comparison shot:

Corsair vs Tempest
I have to be honest and I think the Corsair's dimensions look slightly off because the cockpit had to be placed further back due to fuel tank they put in front of it, when they added the extra pair of guns in the wings and so lost those fuel tanks. The slightly raised cockpit accentuates the effect - at least to my eye. That said it was of course still a truly outstanding aircraft...but I still think the Tempest has the edge on looks....but then I am a Brit!!

- Kit: Tamiya 1/72 Vought F4U-1D Corsair 60752 (Scalemates link) - built OoB as usual
- Paints: Almost all AK 3rd Gen including the Glossy Sea Blue. Most of the rest is Vallejo Metal Colour and Model Air, although there is a hint of Revell and Humbrol in there somewhere.
- Decals: Tamiya kit decals. These seem to be much thinner than their usual offering and have gone down very well by their usual standards - but still not Cartograph standard
- Varnish: Future for gloss coats and then a mixture of Vallejo Resin gloss and satin for the final coat.
- Weathering: Flory wash (dark) and Vallejo Model Air and Game Wash for the exhaust stains.
