HobbyBoss 1/48: Bf 109 G-2

Hi mates!!!


News from my workbench:


Here is my new Bf 109 G-2 in 1:48 scale. The kit is the new 109 from Hobby Boss' Easy Assembly series. HB sells the kit as a F-4. However the box contains rather a G-2. So if you want to build a "Friedrich", maintenance needs to make some changes. Remove air scoops on the Motorcowling, remove the fuel filler cap on the front fuselage etc. I guess that here the 1/32-Trumpeter kit of G-2 has been scaled down to 1/48 (HB and Trumpeter are obviously the same Company).


I simply used the realities and built a "Gustav" out of the box.


It shows a G-2 of JG 5, flown by Heinrich Ehrler, Petsamo (Finland) 1943.

Gorgeous. Beautifully painted. The figures give a great sense of size, you kind of forget how big these fighters really were.


I've always preferred the Emil but the Gustav grows on you.
