    Revell 1:72 Boeing B-17G

Well here's a little project that's been ticking over for months. I mean, when I had a spare hour, I might build an engine, that sort of build. Hence, no build thread, you would all get bored waiting for any update.
The Revell B17 has its critics. It looks like a B17 to me, so I'm happy. There are build reviews all over the web for this model. I'll just add, there's a lot of detail to consider when building this, but no problems during the build - none at all, everything went where it was meant to go. Paint was a mix (not literally) of MRP and alclad. Then a splash of oil to liven things up a bit. Some of you might know, I do like a dirty bird.

In the world of Engineering, it's often said, if something looks right, it probably is right. In my view, there are few aircraft that look as 'right' as a B17 There are many photos of these amazing aircraft landing back in the UK, absolutely battered to bits, huge pieces of aircraft missing, and yet they returned. Little Miss Mischief, below, is made up of two aircraft, hence the green fuselage, after sustaining sever damage on a mission.

I really like the patchwork of donor parts. It really adds to the interest and provides an engaging back story.

Oh, and you’ve done a fantastic job!

That really is very special indeed. A most excellent finish.

          Very well done.

I always like models of vehicles that look like they were repaired with parts from another vehicle, and this one looks very good and convincing

Beautiful work Colin. Weathering NMF is always a challenge, but yours looks really convincing.

Colin, this is superb. You have achieved a suitably weathered finish. Looks like Little Miss Mischief had a hard time.

Hi Colin, I like how you painted this kit and the patchwork weathering. Beautifully crafted. Gives your B-17 character and mischevious looking.

                      Cheers,
                      Richard

Thank you all for stopping by and commenting. This kit was released around 2013, I think. If a four engined heavy bomber floats your boat, then I do recommend this kit.
