    Trumpeter 1/32nd BAC Lightning.

Well guys this one didn't take to long and this is going to a friend and he believes

all aircraft models should be displayed 'wheels up' that is why it is done as a wheels up job.

Making this as a 'wheels up' aircraft was a real head banger as the wheel spats/covers did not fit.

    Lightning F6-'Lightning Training Flight' XS923.

    Pilot. WG.CDR. DE. NORTH.

    RAF Binbrook.

Two pictures i've worked from and are from AirLiners.Net

Thanks for looking guys and don't forget that this big un' was built on me 'tea tray'

Lovely job Ian. I quite like the odd wheels upper myself so I know what you mean about the gear doors etc.

Anyone would be happy to get that one to show off.

      Cheers

      Steve

Hi Ian. That's beautifully done! Your mate should be well chuffed with that.

I've read a couple of reviews (including your build on another site) that say the Trumpeter Lightnings have problems with the intake not fitting properly and leaving a huge gap at the front. Does that apply to this one? If so, how did you fix it 'cos I've just bought one of these?

Excellent build Ian. Your friend is going to be well chuffed with his model.

Just to echo Gern's words over on papa 695's Lightning build.......two great models of this iconic aircraft one after the other, our cup does indeed runneth over!

              Cheers,

              Ron

To be honest that gap isn't that bad and really can't be seen unless you keep looking inside the intake

so i've not bothered to fill in the gap, the easiest way to fill the gap is to actually add a strip of plasticard

to the air intake ring and keep trimming it down until it butts up with the actual intake.

                Ian.

Lovely job Ian, one of my favourite aircraft of all time. I was lucky enough to see these at the Leuchars/Lossiemouth air displays in the 60's when fuel wasn't rationed. One seen never forgotten. Cheers Derek
