    P-40E "Warhawk" Pics

I want to show you my latest model. Hasegawa's P-40E in scale 1/32.

There was a lot of fun to build this model. The P-40 has a good fit with excellent details.

After assembly, the model received a primer.

For the underside I used "USA Grey" from Vallejo, for the top FS 34102 from Gunze. For more details, colors came from Revell, Model Master and Gunze.

After painting a layer of "Klear" came on the model surface and then I put on the decals.

Again the P-40 got a further layer "Klear" on the surface.

    Now the "Weathering" followed.

At first a Washing was done with diluted oil paint. Pastels for more details (smoke residue, etc.) followed.

In the end everything was sealed with matte clear coat.

The antenna wire is pulled sprue.

Hope you like my "Flying Tiger".

A job well done, always more difficult to create character in a one coloured plane...you succeeded admirably, well done.

A great build there Stefan with some lovely weathering especially at the wing root. Did your kit come with a separate tail section? as I found it difficult to blend it in with the rest of the fuselage as there is no natural panel line at that point. Is the cross hair gunsight an after market add on as it looks very realistic? without a doubt a superb build and a well deserved 5* from Me.

A lovely job with very effective weathering. I like the way the paint is scuffed from the wing root and then the bare metal is weathered as well and the undersides looks superb.

yes, the tail was a seperate section and it was a little bit difficult to assemble with the fuselage. it took a little time to align it.

i've got the crosshairs from my "leftovers-box". the original kit part was useless.

Stefan the only way I managed to line up the two sections was to glue them to their respective fuselage halves before joining them together see post 7 in my build thread http://www.scale-models.co.uk/planes-helicopters/16045-hasegawa-1-32-curtis-warhalk-p40e-aleutain-tiger.html

                        hi vaughan!!

it's a good method to solve this problem. i also have hasegawa's 1/48 p-40e in stock and i think that kit is similar to the 1/32. so i will use your method to assemble the tail when i'll have the 1/48-warhawk on my working bench.
