    spanner's Academy 1/72 Catalina PBY-5.....S.A.R. (Dave's Emergency/ Rescue G.B.)

I forgot to add this build to Dave's Emergency Rescue in the Completed G.B. section. So, sorry for having to post the model again. (Different pickies though)

First off, thanks again to Dave (gern) for his invaluable help with the paint scheme for this aircraft.

A most excellent kit with nearly first time fit for most of the parts.

The kit started off life as the Famous WW2 'Black Cat' PBY-5. With Dave's help, I re-painted the aircraft in peace time Search and Rescue colours.
I modified it a bit with bits from my spares box and some plastic card. Not all 100% accurate, but near enough for me. :tongue-out3:

All brush painted in Vallejo Model Air, and the 'USAF', 'Rescue' and 312 colour panels hand painted. I don't use masking tape, but follow the panel or rivet lines with my brush.

That is one beautiful Catalina Ron, in a very unusual scheme, very well executed.
Wierdly the colours remind me of the old Gulf motor racing livery - ala GT40 or Porsche 917K

They make a very handsome pair both the Cat and the Lanc :thumb2:
        Cheers, Paul

Thanks Andrew, Jim and Paul for your nice comments.

I'm sorry, but because I forgot to post the finished model pictures in Completed G.B.'s, I had no other option but to post the model a second time. This time in 'Completed G.B.'s. Perhaps in future, just one photo at the end of the actual build would have sufficed. The rest added in 'Completed.

Jeez, I hope that load of waffling makes sense..... :upside:

          Thanks again.
          Ron

Straight away, perfect 570 ,but no mention of Mrs Ron chucking, it was a blow to Matron.

Superb Ron, nice to see lots of colour splashed around (no pun intended)

                    Thanks boys. :thumb2:

453, thanks for the 'Balls' award. Much appreciated. The 'Cat' is about to be chucked up, so should also have to find a nice stretch of water to alight on fairly soon as well.

                    Thanks again all.
                    Ron
