Body has been masked for main coat. Completed the suspension wishbones underneath the car. Just need to touch in the bolts with gold. The dashboard has been coated with humbrol metal coat and polished up to look like the real deal.
Some more progress. Thought id wear the tyres a bit as they looked a bit naff. So went over them with some heavy duty sandpaper to rough them up a little. Did the brakes tonight. Went over first with a light coat of grey, then metalcoat on the disks, did the hubs matt brown, and added a generous dry brushing of silver over the top. Painted brake calipers gloss red as i wanted it to be a different colour to the gold, and added oil stain powder to weather them down a bit and give them that brake dust look.
Racing seat complete. On my research pics the racing seats are not black. They are a more of a grey colour. So I did a grey basecoat and apply a black wash to bring out the imperfections in the seat. This makes the seat look more life like and used in a race. I also painted the outside of the seat gloss black which makes it look awesome
Thanks. I managed to solve my airbrush issue. Ptfe tape. Works a charm and I have decided not to bother with another o ring as the Ptfe tape actually works better.
So I'm laying down the first coats of paint on the body shell now and spraying the wheels. will be Hopfully finished ready for the daunting decal work next week.
Got a phone call from Addlestone models today. My tamiya 300sl has arrived so ill be picking that up on Saturday
Wheels coated with gold metalic. And a light coat of gloss over the top. Just need to find a way of applying the metalcoat on the rims evenly. I'm thinking somehow spin the wheels and apply metalcoat on the rim as it's spinning.
Also did the base coat of white on the body shell. Ready for top coat and gloss coat.
