Actually the whole tank warfare idea was trashed by British high command as non-sense. Dependence upon Espre De Corps and cavalry charges with the cold steel of the sabre was all that was needed to rout the Hun. They soon found out that a few three man machine gun crews with plenty of ammo could hold up entire armies with appalling "wastage" as they so flippantly described the lives of men and poor innocent horses. Thus the tank finally came into it's own and the rest my friend is historyOriginally posted by \Took 'em long enough to figure it out, though!

Thanks Monica, they're not "set" in yet, just trying out some scenarios. They will only get in the way of ground-work, weathering etc... if they go in too soon, just thought the folks would want to see the gist of it. Still a long way to go........................JimOriginally posted by \oh how sweet she looks, dose she watch over you as you work away ,
coming along very nicely ,Jim looking good with the figures started to be added, like the one in the shell hole,

ops: will have all this seasons logging done soon. Hopefully a few years worth pulled out this time. Once the sub-zero f temps and snows kick in we sleep with the bears. So have to make sure all the i's are dotted and all the t's are crossed. After wood comes hunting to stock the freezers and hopefully not too much snow by Thanksgiving {Nov 25}...........Jim

I still shudder at the thought that anyone in the 20th century thought this might work - shocking!Originally posted by \Dependence upon Espre De Corps and cavalry charges with the cold steel of the sabre was all that was needed to rout the HunComment

Have read quite extensively on "The Great War" The stubbornness of the higher ups was astounding when you consider that the cost in human life and suffering was so high. So tied to tradition they were that the most awful debacles were repeated over and over. The "tank" was thought of as a novelty and a waste of good warm bodies that could be flung onto the wire and slaughtered by murderous machine gun and artillery fire. While the generals wined and dined on the finest food and drink, smoked big cigars and had their choice of the "ladies" many miles behind the lines in their commandeered hotels, castles and palaces, the poor "sub-rankers" waited at the front in their cold, wet and hungered state for their chance at "glory" which usually ended face down bleeding to death in the foul slime of no-mans-landOriginally posted by \I still shudder at the thought that anyone in the 20th century thought this might work - shocking!

Bit more work done, shell hole casualty was going to be in water filled crater but the damn urethane keeps leaking through so I guess I'll have to make him in a muddy hole. Beginning to lay down color but it will take many layers and many hours
