    Deen and Dunya

I do have difficulties knowing where to place some of these figures. 'Figures WWI and after' doesn't sound quite right, but she's certainly not Fantasy or Sci-fi - that Sony Walkman definitely places her in the real world.

Anyhow, this is a first attempt at painting a proper figure after several months' lay-off. She's pretty straightforward, but I haven't attempted super-smooth transitions, which makes life easier. I have used Contrast paints for the first time (actually Vallejo's Xpress Color), diluted and applied to her hijab and tee shirt, then largely painted over. But I'm pretty pleased at how they worked, especially for a first try.

    Some pictures:
The kit - it's a 1:10 scale bust from Pedro Fernandez Works, called Yildiz. Very nice too.

ID:	1270754 The tee-shirt will read "Deen + Dunya". It refers to the Islamic imperative to live a life balanced between the spiritual and the temporal. She's clearly enjoying the earthly delights of music, but also wearing her hijab, representing her faith.

An unusual figure, and a lot of fun to paint.
