Hi John - He's massive. I get quite an ache in my left arm from holding him after an hour or so. I had to put in an extra order for paint yesterday as I'm using so much.

 Morning Peter,

I was really thinking that the box art is not a good reflection of the sculptor's efforts.

You have caught a very British complexion and given it a real face, unlike the poor box art.

Now you need much more paint!

It should be a good day painting, there is a lot of white in that tabard, a really big metal helmet and lots of natural fibres and leather.

Its grey awful and still cold here

You should have a fun day, just leave the little one on her own feet!

 Have a good day

 Regards

Jack - The box art is by Francois Verlinden himself, so I take that as a great compliment. To be fair, his faces look better close up - he had a tendency to put a layer of gloss varnish on the eyes, which caused unfortunate reflections.

Steve - Thanks as well. The pasty English complexion comes from looking in the mirror - especially at this time of year. Bit of a dull day here, so not sure how much I'll get done - babysitting tomorrow, so no painting.Comment

I've made a start on the torso:

I ended up stripping this down three times, before getting to this stage. I had wanted to do the gambeson (padded armour) in buff, but for some reason it looked awful. I next tried Vallejo Japanese Uniform, which is a rich yellow ochre, but again it just wouldn't work. Finally, I went for the red on the box art, which was also testing to do, but did finally work. His tunic will be green rather than the buff on the box.Comment

 Hi Peter
 Great head - real character.
I was talking to my dentist a while ago. She said that when she started 30+ years ago she rarely had to extract milk teeth from young children. Now she said it was a regular occurance and that in a few cases so many teeth needed removing that she had to refer the child to hospital. Parents may have more money these days but too many seem reluctant to 'say no', give of their time or take responsibility. Very sad.

Morning Peter and sugar addicts LOL

Lovely work on the padded armour, and a weekend with greens and white ahead.

That should be fun, better than the grey days with potentially wintery showers!

How are your daughters driving lessons going?

 Well, hopefully?

Have a good weekend with the family and painting

 Regards

 John - :thumb2:

Steve - Well into the whites at the moment - there seems a vast amount of surface area to paint.

My daughter's driving course has gone pear-shaped I'm afraid. It was intended as an intensive catch-up with a test at the end of it, but she got more and more nervous and had to admit that she would need an awful lot more ordinary lessons before she would be ready again. One of the things she didn't bank on was the impatience of the other drivers on the road.Comment
