Hi all need some help getting bored of my christine build. My missus bought me the Revell 1/144 c17a antd keeps dropping hints about don't I like it or is it too difficult things like that, thing is I quite like it but not in the boring colours of the 2 options available. I have Googled it and found some nice colour schemes only to find that they are not actually a c17a do any of you know of a colour scheme that does not involve Grey or white or a combination of.
Revell c17a

Sometimes that's the challenge - taking a monocolour subject & making it interesting. It's the same thing in AFV modelling where most stuff is green!
Why not imagine the US have expanded their base in Antarctica & so need larger resupply aircraft. Then you can paint it red, coz that's the colour used down there for spotting purposes.Comment

Thanks guys i realize it is a military cargo plane but as I am sure you have worked out by now I don't like as is and like different (military sales show room, Stephensons rocket, he117 as a spaceship) but after being on forums I realize a lot of modelers put in a lot of research before they start a model, so they can make it more believable. well that's what I want to do with this but I have decided it will not be grey or white, if necessary I will just have to invent my own, something along dubster's suggestion. flyjoe you say they already fly there and are not red or orange but are the ones that fly there flown by the US, if so are there any other countries which fly there in orange or red (sorry all I know nothing about planes) when I got back into plastic around Christmas everyone seemed to be buying me planes or giving me planes. Don't get me wrong I'm not complaining, it's just not one of my favorite subjects. Now cars boats motorcycles trains that's a different story.Comment

It certainly is, what is it Cyprus or Turkish I don't know and are those radioactive logos on it, I wonder what it's carrying.Comment

Its a Xian Y20 , a chinese development prototype . The 'radioactive' markings on the airframe are datum points used in the testing process and the colour is the bare primer. Theres no reason why you couldnt do your C17 in a similar scheme, although i really like the idea of a 'KP' airlines job!! cheers tonyComment

Hi all thanks for all your input have decided to go with my own airline KP AIRLINES as it incorporates my initials and my missus it will be based on the KLM livery only where it's white it will be blue. I will be using Humbrol enamels French blue 14 for the KLM blue and Sea blue 47 for where it's white and the pin stripes or go faster stripes? Don't know what else to call them Bright red 19 what do you think.Comment
