sheds, outhouses...who'd have one!?

...me! This rented pile of bricks has 2 brick sheds, although the one at the bottom of the garden is an old air raid shelter!

So guess what!? The weather's here...the kids want things like their bikes and scooters...guess whose got to tidy it? Yep muggins here!

    I did have help though,

This bad boy! Easily 2 inch leg span , then I had help in the shelter, he was naughty and wouldn't help!

He was big, over 3 inches in span o_O.

I don't mind bugs but spiders always get the size 10 treatment, I hate spiders ! 8 legs and can spin thread out your bum...that's not natural!!!

    Anybody else suffer this?

    KILL EM WITH FIRE!!!

I have two brick built sheds, my mancave (bug free for the moment) and a green house, the two brick built sheds always seem to have lurking visitors...*shudders*.

He looks like a giant house spider (not really giants though ). I don't mind them at all and they do keep other bugs under control.

      Cheers

Someone told me that there are about a dozen species of spider in the UK that can bite you, some quite nastily. I've no idea if that's true or not. I regularly pick up spiders stuck in the bath or somewhere and release them safely and I've never been bitten

I was brought up in West Africa and used to catch all sorts of creepy crawlies as a kid. I never developed any phobias and never got badly stung or bitten. Some, including my late mother, would say that that was more by luck than judgement!

My little brother once kicked in a hornets' nest and, not being able to bicycle as quickly as me, got stung so badly he had to go to hospital and have a load of injections. It turns out they go for the first person they catch and that sure as hell wasn't going to be me. Served him right I reckon

I hate them , not to the point of running screaming at the sight of them but wouldn't touch one unless I had no choice. I remember visiting my nan years ago when she lived in shefford in the middle of nowhere and went to the guest room to unpack and I was going to mention the 6 inch crack in the wall to her when it moved (I kid you not 6 inches. I told her about it and she calmly went upstairs with a hair brush put it on the spiders back and when I wrapped it legs round the brush she threw it out the windows. She had some b@s my nan. She said yes we get a lot of them and calmly went back down stairs, I slept with one eye open all night

I might be a bit late with this reply - maybe the spiders have got you already.... but seriously, spread some conkers around in the buildings, spiders will definately keep away. I can't seem to find out why but I suppose even if you are a biggish sort of spider, the way those spikey missiles come down from the trees would certainly be very off-putting. lol Anyway it has worked for me for years, even in the house.

Yes Steve there are poisonous spiders in the UK. I recall reading about them last summer when there was an epidemic of bites. I think it was mostly in the west country though. We have them her as well. They came over from Sweden. Its not like you will die, you get a bite, it turns into an ulcer like wound that does not heal. Yuk!

Aussieland has some nice little Spiders. They can even bite you through your shoes. One can even bite though a big toes toe nail! Sod that!

Gibraltar 1992, a trip through the tunnels, an oppo shouts over to me, I look to see what he's on about, there hanging out of drill hole for dynamite were legs of a rather large 8 legged freak! At this point we were on our toes to catch up with the rest of our shipmates...

Don't talk to me about spiders , my wife and I were in the car going to the airport for our holidays and as i was driving along minding my own business my wife let out an almighty squeal stating that a spider was above my head, of coarse what do I do - look up and bang right into the rear of the car in front , I sweated bricks trying to sort out the insurance while trying to be on time for the airport . it was a good holiday anyway
