Laurie's wot I did and did not score

Cricket mad in my teens until 21 then met Pauline.

Played for and captained West Surrey Schoolboys. Had a trial for Surrey got to last eight so sad was I. Thought life had ended.

I am the one on the left. Ha Ha. Sometimes I smiled in those days but cricket was a serious business. 1956

Bottom left playing for a mens team. About 1955.

Maybe you didn't make the big time, but you tried.

Lots of people don't get that opportunity or can't be bothered to try.

    You still have memories

Only cricket Joe mediocre at all other sports. But I tried them all and enjoyed the experience very much. I could not have had better youth years.

One thing I do wish that my midriff was that size. Weighed 8stone 12lbs a few days before getting married.

But I have improved on that it is now 12stone 8 lbs.
