Ian M's what I used to do...

No tanks or aircraft for me. I had a boring job. I was a theater tech and worked the London theaters.. Then worked behind a desk for ten years... see boring.

In my free time though a different story all together.

No photos I'm afraid, an ex-wife and a tin of lighter fuel put paid to those.

I used to like walking in the hills; the black mountains, the lake district, and the like.

That led to a bit of clambering/climbing. I also liked to canoe.

A lot of time was used at the river bank or lake side or the coast fishing.

Rode around rather a lot on one of five motor bikes. Played squash and the odd game of Rugby as well.

These days I am lucky if I can get up and down the stairs. I s'pose I just wore every thing out.

lol just remembered, I used to shoot as well. Mostly air, but a bit of live ammo if I got the chance. Mostly targets at the range, but was not adverse to the odd rabbit or bird.

My last adventure in active pass time was coastal rowing...

At least you got to see some proper stuff. As an ex lorry driver (only 7.5t 'puddle jumpers' - not artics), 99% of my driving was for a company that made large scale water pipes and fittings - up to about 12' diameter. I got to visit just about every water treatment works and sewage plant in the UK!

And the furthest abroad I ever got was Anglesey - even then I cheated and went over the bridge!

I don't think your live is bore Ian...

Seems you have an "ancient" story. But, and now..? seems you had the aptitude to change it. New "company and country" Or maybe I'm wrong

Anyway, you spent time on interestig things!

Just because it's not a military background, doesn't mean to say that it's a bad one

And that comes from a dane that moved to Scotland... :-P

I would just say that my life was not boring, just my jobs. I just miss not being able to do all the things I used to be able to do. I still have my photography, and the gardening and "making stuff" to keep me sane. I build a separator bin for the work shop the other day. Works a treat. £6. and no more clogging up the Hoover with wood shavings.

I'm just looking forward to being able to stop working and get on with life!
