I should sell my carpet, it probably has enough spare bits of plastic hidden in it now to build something as a kit set.

once had a workmate tell me model making was a waste of time and money, especially since if he wanted one he could go and buy a diecast and save the trouble

i pointed out he had just spent 6 grand on a piano!!..........and if i wanted to hear piano music i could buy a cd for a tenner and and it would be better

                      he shut up then

once had a boss tell me it was a waste of time.....i said it helped me with my work

he looked at me as if i was looney

i work in QA in the automotive industry.......i pointed out that when model making it helps with my eye for detail and spotting defects or problems, im always striving for perfection, it helps with problem solving and thinking laterally to come up with countermeasures for those problems, helps with hand-eye co-ordination and dexterity with using tools

then i asked him how his train spotting hobby helped him :P

I have a neighbour that thinks i play with "toys". When she walks pasted and i'm in the middle of priming a project, she'll say" i see you're playing again John!". Yes, it got on my nerves until i said "look at the rest of the street, they are either sat with a can in their hands or they have a needles in the arm. I build models, thats my past time, whats yours?"

                        Have fun, John

had it a few times from the in-laws mainly the mother-in-law but to be honest have had it most of my life with something or another I am a self confessed geek!!!

My Main passion is comic books but I collect toys and action figures. not the crap that is about now but the older stuff mego, star wars, transformers etc and rare imported toys from Japan.

most of the time people say why bother then once explained the cost of these things once sold they soon change there tone.

Just did Leicester Comic Con the 1st ever comic con in Leicester and the work mates gave me some stick till i explain to them that while you lot were getting beered up on Saturday i made £500 soon went quite.

The model making is a new thing in our house used to do it at home (mum and dad's) when i was a kid and now like my dad I have started to do the models with my son the Mrs is not to happy but it keeps the pair of us out the way when enders is on the telly.lol :P

                            Best friends comment:

"Why would you try to make plastic look rusty"?

                            Me:

                            "Because I can"

And this is from a guy who spends ££££££ on lego technical kits. Ahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!

its all down to ignorance, I myself am ignorant of the pleasures of rock climbing soaps and reality TV, personally I would rather dig my eyes out with a sharpened chair leg, and after suffering a season watching Millwall that might not be a bad option for the coming season.
