Nichimo kit

Does anyone have any experience of Nichimo kits? There's a Nichimo Spit on e-bay which I've got my eye on for the group build. Do you think it might be OK? As long as it looks like a spitfire when it's built, I don't really mind, but if it's gonna be a nightmare to fit, perhaps I should forget it.

If it's worth having, please do me a favour and don't bid for it against me.:thumbs:

Group build is a 1/48 spit. as far as i know...any 1/48 spit will do ( i may be wrong. i'm sure the big boys will correct me)...but Tamiya is preferred so we can see what we all do with the same kit.

Squiffy got us our Tamiya Spits at cost price weeks ago (Top Bloke), he may have some still. Give him a PM.

i personaly have no experience with these kits (iv never heard of them) its very cheap and is also classed as a vintage. after a bit of research, make sure you dont spend over £6 on this as thats how much it is worth.

generaly the cheaper the kit, the less parts, the less detail and not so easy to fit togeather. not always true

but if you can afford it get a hasegawa or tamiya kit, if you look in the group build prosses thread at my post you can see how the tamiya ones come out, i know some one has baught a hasegawa kit but you will have to ask them about it.

if you want either of these kits pm squiffythewombat, as far as i know he still has one of each in stock for about £10-12 i think!

Ps....the Tam kit is 25 quid in my local model shop. Squiffy is doing charity work for us at the minute, grab one before he goes all capitalist!!!!

Squiffy's offer is great. Obviously, I wouldn't bid up the Nichimo kit over about £6. The thing is I'm slightly dubious about buying a good kit, cos I'll be using an airbrush for the first time, and I'll probably balls it up anyway.

I think I'll buy if it stays cheap; if not, and Squiffy's offer is still open, I'll go for it.

If the Nichimo kit goes for cheap enough you can always use that as the tester to practise your techniques until you are happy to commit to the Tamiya one with some paint.

exactly what i was going to sugest richard,thats how i practiced. found some half done models with bits missing up in my loft and practiced on them.

believe it or not i have a half "brilliant blue" gloster!

Nichimo kits are ok actually, ive a couple in stock and i actually sold that exact kit a few weeks back! Its not a touch on the Tamiya or Hasegawa ones but its still not too shabby!

As Richard quite rightly says i wouldnt pay much more than £5-6 for it though, even though its a vintage kit its still not that great or popular for that matter!
