    How long!?

Let me first say I'm not in any way having a go at John or the shop, I know it's all to do with new postal rules but....

I placed an order for some paints on Saturday, on Monday I had a notification that they were dispatched via Hermes, yet I'm still here waiting. According to the tracking site it was received at the senders depot on the 22nd. I know its all about Health and Safety etc but seriously I could have walked to the shop and back in the time I've been waiting. Again I know its not Johns fault but I had to vent my frustration, what made it worse is I ordered some other Apollo 11 merchandise yesterday and it arrived today, yes I know its not paints but still !

Just looked at our rules for Jersey Post Office and this is what is excluded to be sent within Jersey and to the UK.

      flammable liquids

(including petroleum, lighter fluid, certain adhesives, solvent-based paints, wood

varnish, enamels and acetones including nail varnish removers; also see Alcoholic

Beverages, Perfumes and Aftershaves and Nail Varnish)

See that they even exclude Petrol by post o_O

Same thing I ordered some stuff paints were involved so delivered by Hermes not johns fault but Hermes fault I will just make sure in future to only order dry stuff if Hermes is involved not just from john but from anyone as far as I can see Hermes are not a good delivery firm.

That is a shame, have noticed this creeping in more and more. Health & Safety and the threat of terrorism is just making so difficult, I know we want to be safe, but...common sense seems to be lacking in many departments.

          Hope you get them.

Think with Hermes and other deliverers they wait until they have a good pile for each district until they pass on. Hence the delay.

FedX do all the "speciality goods" in Jersey and they are spot on.

Have you tried posting anything via Royal Mail lately? I sent out a few eBay sales last week and got the third degree at the PO.

Have to agree with you there Rick, it is like they are going out of their way to go out of business.

I think with Hermes its their system I tracked my order it went to the local depot from where it was sent 2 days later to central distribution spent a day there then went to my local depot spent a day there then went to my agent and was delivered so what i think happens is I live south the item comes from the south but instead of coming to me it goes right past me to central depot in the north then comes back to my local depot, then gets delivered.

                    Just had a thought !

                    How long.

Used to take 6 weeks for the England Cricket Team to sail and reach Australia.

Grandma's parcel from Hull to Surrey. A fortnight.

A Christmas Card a good week.

Even bills were at least a month behind.

News from the other side of the world probably a week.

Pathe news at the cinema, the only visual news around most a month old.

Another day and still no sign of my paints, if I had known it would be this long I wouldn't have ordered them and would have got them from the show I'm attending tomorrow !

                        Never mind Adrian.

We have worse problems here in Jersey and Guernsey. One of the RoRo ferries bottomed out on the seabed and is out of action for 6 weeks.

The two boats bring virtually all food and more important wine and beer. Most women, the little dears, are worrying about food.

Low on the priority list the wine and beer is disappearing at an alarming rate in the shops. Empty shelves even. We men are facing a deep and desperate situation growing worse by the hour. Survival !

I like it Terry ! Except it is probable the aircraft in the Aircraft Maintenance mishap article is the one that was scheduled to bring in all the missing wine and beer.

There isn't a lot I can do with sending flammable products, you should have had standard delivery and courier as options, an easy way to tell if it will go Royal Mail is if you have 1st class as an option, if you was to choose standard that would go Royal Mail 2nd class

Any problems with delivery please contact me, if I'm not aware of a problem I can't sort it out, I will contact Hermes now to see where it is.
