    New Airfix kits - surfaces

    Hello

Did I read somewhere that the outer plastic surfaces of new tooled Airfix kits are intentionally rough? The 1/48 Lancaster is. Is there a reason for this does anyone know? Presumably I have to give it all a light sanding? I would do anyway prior to priming but the whole kit seems to require it.

    Thanks

Aidan not heard of this one.

Nearly finished my struggle with an Airfix Merlin and can only say the finish has been exceptional. It is a new tooling.

If you have a rough finish I would contact Aifix as that is not accetable.

I dont think the surface it rough, more like just matted. It is supposed to make them easier to paint...

A coat of primer normally takes care of it.

surely you mean 1/72 scale Airfix lancaster or Tamiya 1/48....I nearly had a bloody heart attack! lol

I have noticed that on my tiffy Aiden but it's not very rough so I won't be sanding it
