    Is this safe to pay?

Chaps, I've just had a genuine email.

It has asked me to pay an invoice for £5.000 for goods supplied.....It looks totally genuine and I think it perfectly safe to send the money to......

    Gladness B. Madikwe

    Sales & Marketing Clerk

    Morupule Coal Mine

    Private Bag 39

    Palapye

    Botswana

I've also drafted a note to him....

    Dear Gladness,

I am in receipt of your email and I will send the money by return.

Thank you for the prompt delivery of my 50 tons of Grade 1 coal, all nicely bagged in 5Ib. bags. That was very thoughtful of you. My wife will be able to carry that amount to the fire easily.

However, in future could you deliver my next order in bulk because..

    A) My postman has smashed my letterbox trying to fit all the bags into it.

    B) My wife says she would like to loose some weight, and would like the load dumped in the lane so she can shovel it into a barrow and wheel it around the back of our property.

Finally, I hope your son is progressing well at the Botswana State University and the money I am sending with a copy of the invoice, will help further his education.

    Best wishes,

    Winston Churchill

I've checked Ron and this seems totally legit to me. Here's a picture of the Morupule colliery in Botswana.

          Get your cheque book out!

As it happens I have 27 million pounds worth of diamonds which are owed to you. Whilst you've got the book out write another cheque for a mere 3,800 pounds, payable to me, as an administration fee and I will arrange to have the diamonds delivered...just like your coal.

Alternatively you can forward me all your bank details and I promise only to relieve you of my fee

          Cheers

          Steve

That's still better than I get Ade! I'm with a couple of agencies as I'm still looking for a teaching job. The best offers I've had so far are long-distance lorry driving in Canada and a meat cutter in a Halal slaughterhouse somewhere in the Midlands.

Read this and got the same reaction Richard. People who do this have one a great expectancy and or no sense of humour.

The awful thing is that some people are dopey enough to part with the lolly.

It is also at home not just Botswana. Three elderly people in Jersey , younger than me , trusted their money to two financiers and a local magistrate (magistrate in Jersey are senior qualified Advocates of the Royal Court of Jersey) to invest.

They invested in themselves and are now, lucky things, being Royally entertained and fed rent free all founded by all those kind people living in Jersey . Where well of course Jersey Home for wayward beings and strays. Goes something like the Jersey Prison Service.

They still have the money. The Elderly people in 2 cases have none. Believe that 3 well educated men with pensions and houses etc. The magistrate was suspended on full pay until conviction and even after he was sent to jail he was entitled to payment as a magistrate for his contract period and also to a full pension.

You know how it goes Laurie:

"Corrupted men only elected other corrupted men to be their peers, lest they have to question the things that gave them their own vast privileges." - Tom Clancy.

The same goes for punishments - don't be too harsh so you don't suffer when it's your turn!
