    A and E and angry

After a good enjoyable few mins on the shout forum last night i went to bed and went off straight away.At 3.30 am got a phone call to say 17 year old son had been taken to Manchester Royal after being assaulted by thugs after a night out. He had been unconcious and was out for 15 min. We got there 1/2 hour later and were told he was concious and would be seen as soon as poss. The police had been to take a statement from girlfriend and son and they were told the CCTV cams outside the BBC studios may have picked up the thugs. What is wrong with society today, when people cant walk the streets without some sort of abuse or violence being forced upon them . He is home and very sore after the pummling he got on the head. Bring back the lash

Sorry to hear about your son Pogo hope he's feeling better soon, the problem today is the Police are to scared to do anything to people because of all the do gooders moaning about peoples civil rights, what about the victims and their civil rights.

Pogo, it is a sad eflection of our society today that people do not feel safe to do the normal things we expect to be able to do in a secure society.

When I was a kid people used to leave thier front doors open. Nowadays we lock up churches yet it is illegal to smack kids and teachers are powerless to do anything with them.

How long is it going to take before we realise we have got it very very wrong.

I sincerely hope that your Son makes a full recovery although I expect the mental scars might not go easily.

The happy slap culture is a reaction to the free availiabity of mobile phones and the youths who have them. A mobile phone used to be used to talk to another person .Then we got text. Another culture. Schoolchildren today cannot spell unless it is in text speak. Then came the cameras and everything else that comes with it. Too much , Too easily, too soon for a lot of todays youth. I work in a school as a teaching Assistant and the attitude of pupils today is frightning. 11-16 year olds have their own rules and god help you if you dont fit in . This carries on into late teens and this is where we are today .Sorry to keep moaning but sometimes the truth hurts . Thanks for everyones thoughts and support.

Pogo, really sorry to hear about that. Sign of the times sadly. Give the lad our best wishes. They used to run a public service ad on US television that said " Its 9pm , do you know where YOUR kids are ?" Made me think.

Colin all i can say is sorry the sad thing is yours is not an isolated incident and the police do very little to aprehend these thugs that is unless they had tshirts stating england forever or i am a christian then the full weight of our law would come down on them !!! sad i know but i belong to the disillusioned majority

Your not on your own . In this politicaly correct world the people who did it if caught will prob be sent to some holiday camp to find themselves . I know what i would do with them . I just hope the CCTV picked up something but knowing our luck they forgot to put a tape in the machine. On a forum like this you have to be careful what you say. Again whatever happened to free thought and speech .Bring back national service

All I can say is sorry as well. Please tell him we're thinking of him on here.

Love to be able to string the little Bastards up by the balls, but it might upset someone.

                  Best wishes

                  Chris

Are all we members over sixty or do we just get wiser and more angry when we pass a certain age.

I remember a 'copper' give me a clip & then taking me home so that my father could do likewise(scrumping an apple).

You could still mutter about policemen, but the important point is that you respected & accepted the LAW! (a reformed ROCKER)

sad but true view on modern society, people are brought up with no respect for others or themselves.

i hope he recovers fully, i can only imagine the fright you got when the phone rang and heard the news.

Colin, I feel for you and your family. I hope your boy isn't too effected by the ordeal. Something like that can shake your confidence. I wish him well.

Yeah as you get older (I've just turned 40) and have your own kids, you realise that if you've put the love and effort bringing up your kids the right way, why the hell should you give the benefit of the doubt to some whining bullying cowardly thug who has no respect for another human being. It makes me angry, just thinking about it.

Colin, just hang on to the thought that there are still millions of people out there who find this sort of behaviour disgusting and unacceptable. We are with you...
